What to do first?

  1. Choose a domain name: Before you can start building your WordPress site, you’ll need a domain name. This is the address that visitors will use to find your site on the web. Choose a name that represents your brand or the content of your site. You can purchase a domain name from a domain registrar like GoDaddy, Namecheap, or Google Domains.
  2. Purchase a hosting plan: Next, you’ll need a hosting plan to store your website files and make your site accessible on the web. Nexcess offers a variety of managed WordPress hosting plans to choose from. Go to the Nexcess website and select a hosting plan that meets your needs.

  3. Set up your hosting account: After you’ve purchased a hosting plan, you’ll need to set up your hosting account with Nexcess. Follow the prompts to create an account, and enter the necessary information, such as your name, email address, and payment details.

The next four steps, we complete for you, but we want you to understand how it works.

  1. Point your domain to your hosting account: Once your hosting account is set up, you’ll need to point your domain name to your hosting account. This can be done by updating the nameservers for your domain with the domain registrar. Nexcess will provide you with the nameservers to use. You can find this information in your Nexcess account or by contacting Nexcess support.
  2. Install WordPress: With your domain and hosting set up, you can now install WordPress. Nexcess offers one-click WordPress installation, making it easy to get your site up and running. Simply log in to your Nexcess account, navigate to the control panel, and follow the prompts to install WordPress.
  3. Customize your site: Once WordPress is installed, you can start customizing your site. Choose a theme, add plugins, and create content to make your site unique. You can access the WordPress admin dashboard by going to yourdomain.com/wp-admin and logging in with the credentials you set up during the WordPress installation process.
  4. Secure your site: It’s important to keep your WordPress site secure. Make sure to keep your WordPress installation, themes, and plugins up to date, and use strong passwords for your WordPress admin account. Nexcess also offers features like automatic backups, malware scanning, and a web application firewall to help keep your site secure.

That’s it! With these steps, you’ll be well on your way to creating a WordPress site with Nexcess. Remember to keep your domain and hosting account information secure, and never share your login credentials with anyone you don’t trust.
